Hoogkerk is a family-friendly and spaciously designed neighborhood to the west of Groningen that feels like a pleasant village to many. Hoogkerk used to be a separate municipality. Due to the growth of the city of Groningen, Hoogkerk was added to the municipality of Groningen in 1969. The neighborhood mainly consists of terraced houses and semi-detached houses, primarily inhabited by families and the elderly.
The neighborhood is spaciously laid out with plenty of water and greenery, and the Hoendiep and De Onlanden are nearby. It is a wonderful area for cycling or walking.
